    Going nuts at Waitrose

Not happy with Waitrose. Did a quick bit of shopping on Sunday having already done my main shop and Tesco keeps tempting me with its spend £60/70/80 or £90 offers to get £10 off. Anyway bill came to £30.39 which I thought was a bit steep for a few items and no alcohol. Got home and unpacking and noticed at top of bill £2.92 for packet of mixed nuts? Well number one I don't usually check my till receipts but this item jumped out at me and number two I don't buy mixed nuts except at Christmas time. I then went systematically through the list checking against groceries I had returned home with - no nuts, nothing surplus. So had to go back and get a refund. Okay this was given no quibble but no goodwill gesture for my time and trouble and no grovelling apology just a shoulder shrug and these things happen. Well, not to me matey - please buck up your ideas as I will be checking all till receipts in future.

Order online with John Lewis and collect at Waitrose Nailsea

Local online shoppers at John shoppers can get their goods delivered to the Nailsea branch of Waitrose from this month.
Branch manager Chris Prest said: “We go live with John Lewis click and collect from Tuesday, May 8."
Despite the lack of big stores in Nailsea town centre shoppers at www.johnlewis.com will be able to have their goods delivered to the Waitrose supermarket for free collection.
Mr Prest added: “As people proceed through the checkout process on the website it will indicate theior options for delivery or collection and some items - usually based on size or value - will not be available to collect from us.”
A successful trial at Waitrose at Portishead led to the extension of the service.

Longer hours for the giving supermarket

It is almost one year since Waitrose opened a supermarket in Nailsea town centre. The store is now extending its opening hours. It will open at 8am instead of 8.30am from Monday to Saturday and at 10.30am on Sunday for shoppers to have half an hour to browse before the checkouts open. The latest £1,000 bonus in the green token Community Matters was divided between the following schools: Hannah More Infant School, Nailsea, £540; Westleigh Infant School, Backwell , £250 and Birdwell Primary School, Long Ashton, £210. Since 2008 Waitrose Partners have choose three charities or community projects to benefit from a share of the supermarket’s £1,000 regular donation.
