I am sure this is called Mendip Carpets not Mendip Mills - perhaps getting confused with the nearby hills?
Anyway, the Tintawn carpet I ordered for my living/dining room when I first arrived in Nailsea went walkabouts.
It was a special order as Mendip Carpets didnt stock this particular make.
Well no-one did because it was very rough and hardwearing with little mark-up for the store to make a profit..
Reluctantly Bob Williams chased the missing carpet which had been sent to Nailsworth and not Nailsea.
No-one had heard of Nailsea in the 1970s!
When we got upwardly mobile and moved from house to new house in Nailsea we always returned to the High Street store for new carpets.
Son Steve joined Bob in the shop and continued the dry humour banter with customers which admittedly isnt everyones cup of tea.
Last year our bathroom flooded and we were forced by the insurance company to get replacements from Allied Carpets.
Oh! I missed the efficiency and good nature of the Williams duo.
Also I know the carpets arent going to last half as long as the originals from Mendips.
