The Old Barn is a great country-style pub, a brilliant place to pop in for a few pints of an evening. Behind the bar the good selection of real ales come straight from the barrel, and there are some really excellent ciders on offer too. Not much in the way of food but frankly the atmosphere and the excellent drinks range more than makes up for it. A brilliant pub, possibly the best in Nailsea.

Traditional Real Ale pub beside a tinkling stream. Roaring fire in the winter. Beautiful grounds in the summer. Grade II listed c.1759.

Thankfully this pub has just been taken over by a couple who also intend to put the hotel next door in order. The Barn is great - far from the madding crowd but still on the edges of civilisation it attracts the alternative country lovers and dog walkers. Inside today I read a notice saying if you would like to sit outside (in comfy armchairs under awnings) and feel cold or wet we have umbrellas, warm socks and wellingtons to loan. Where else in the world would you read something like that? It has a great outdoors and an equally welcoming indoors like a extension of a living room in an old stately home with bookshelves and childrens games. The place has had a spring clean although the black spider webs may make a return! Debs and Fiona who are running the place say the hotel has been gutted and has nothing of historic or monetary value left inside. It will take many hundreds of thousands of pounds to put right and is something they intend to tackle in the future. The pub is packed as usual but the owners had the sense to employ plenty of bar staff and it serves an assortment of real ales and sandwiches most days.
