THIRTEEN teams took part in Its A Knockout at Nailsea School.
Teacher Julie Baldwin came up the idea to raise money for the Livingstone Tanzania Trust, which works to alleviate poverty in a community in Babati, Tanzania, through education.
She is also attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in October and hope to raise enough money over the next six months to fund the building of a new classroom at a secondary school in Babati.
Mrs Baldin decided to do something positive for people less fortunate after a family tragedy more than a decade ago.
The theme for the eight games was a school timetable and in true knockout fashion involved lots of water, prunes and cold baked beans.
Team Marine were the adults winners with students Rosie Parnham, Pete Thorne, Alex Gillam, Harry Oliver taking the u18s title.
Mrs Baldwin said: “It was fantastic fun and a great day.
“The adults were far more competitive than the under 18s.”
The event added £500 to the kitty and Mrs Baldwin is looking for a corporate sponsor now.
She intends to go into intensive training during the school summer holidays walking, cycling and running.
Mrs Baldwin added: “I would like to say thank you to anyone who attended, took part or helped.
“Particular thanks to Nailsea School Association and Adrienne Hield, Julie Simmonds and Janet Hopper who have been amazing with their support and help.”
