Carer Jane Rittey, 56, of Langford, was forced to sit in the car on a sunny morning with her 89-year-old charge. She said: "You can't use a wheelchair down here, it is too bumpy. It would be nice to come here with disabled people and walk all around the lake on a path. I can see the argument from both sides."

i REALLY HOPE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO WAS SHOCKED AT HOW LONG ELDERLY/DISABLED PEOPLE AND PARENTS WITH PRAMS HAVE HAD TO FIGHT FOR AN ACCESSABLE PATH AROUND BACKWELL LAKES!
I am fortunate enough to know Alison Morgan through her association with Nailsea Methodist Church and a more upbeat and cheerful lady I have yet to meet.
Alison always has a beaming smile and a cheery wave for everyone whilst on her travels around Nailsea.
The fact that certain groups and individuals are now trying to boycott this much needed addition to the Lakes is quite disgusting!
Anyone connected with this boycott should hang their heads in shame.
Perhaps their energy would be better spent enforcing dog owners who use the Lake grounds to keep their pets on leads instead of letting them run amock, distressing the birds (especially the mother swans with new signets) whilst they casually stroll along.
THAT is the threat to the enviroment and wildlife at Backwell Lakes!!!!
