An open and shut case for Nailsea shops

A Nailsea furniture shop increased its footfall multi-fold when it put a sale notice in the window saying ‘everything must go’.

Hundreds of anxious customers have been calling in all week to ask Global Furniture assistants if the shop was closing.

But this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Owner Tony Dando explained he is expecting a huge new delivery and has to make some space.

He said: “We do this every now and then to refresh the shop.

“Because the shop is all windows you have to take everything out to change it around.

“We have bought lots of new ranges from the Furniture Show which will start arriving soon and we need the space.”

The new stock includes a traditional Oak range of bedroom and occasional furniture from Devon, clocks, lamps and giftware.

Retired assistant manager at Mizzymead Recreation Centre Ron Hardwidge, aged 78, was caught window shopping the other day.

He said: “Tony told me it wasn’t closing but the sign is a bit confusing.

“It is a good shop, I don’t like to see any Nailsea shop closing.”

With that mystery solved and questions about Lawrence's Bistro at Kingshill and The Southern Co-operation answered elsewhere on this website here is another conundrum for Nailsea People.

Why is the estate agents shop Reed Rains closed – there is no notice on the door and the shop was locked and in darkness on Friday morning.

Please post answers in the comment box below or email nailsea@thelocalpeople.co.uk – thanks.

Round Trees at Tickenham is NOT closing! Times are hard for everyone at the moment, and we are relying on our loyal customers to help us through this sticky patch. Still lots of bargains to be had, with 10% discount on all cash purchases. See you soon :-)

Is Tickenham Garden Centre still closing? Asked the staff on the weekend when it was due to close its doors and they said it wasn't closing.

Big shame Tickenham Garden Centre( Rowntrees) is closing.Apparently botth the Tickenham and Congresbury garden centresare to close. Cadbury are taking over the Congresbury cenre but there are no takers for the Tickenham Centre.. Much loved garden centres in our area with ever so friendly. staff and competitive prices.
