A NEW wooden raised path has been installed at a nature reserve in Nailsea.

The path – called a raised boardwalk – has been installed at the Nailsea Environment and Wildlife Trust nature reserve at Moorend Spout.

The trust purchased the six acre site in June last year and have carried out a number of tasks such as removing scrub and planting a 300 metre hedgerow.

They have also been improving access at the reserve because parts of the public footpath around the reserve becomes muddy and slippery in wet weather.

The new 120-metre wooden raised boardwalk has been installed by SW Timber Services to take visitors safely over the wettest section of the reserve.

A special ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of the boardwalk where NEWT members and volunteers enjoyed a slice of commemorative cake.
