North Somerset Quilters meet on the third Friday of each month September through to April at the WI Hall Backwell, 7.30 start. This month's meeting will be on Friday 20th March and our speaker will be Angela Madden who will give a talk entitled 'A recent history of a quilter. Angela will also be running a workshop on Saturday 20th using her Five Dot Flower technique details of which can be found on her website www.angelamadden.com.
Besides the speaker there will be a display under the heading Something borrowed, something blue; where items made by members will be on show. Each month we run a charm swap which consists of 20 accurately cut 5" squares, in a Ziploc bag or similar with your name on it. The theme this month is white on white/cream on cream, and is a good way to build up a stash of useful pieces of material. We also have a charity table where books, material, notions are donated and all monies collected go to a nominated charity.
A regular feature is a Trader's stall and on the 19th March we will be joined by Busy Bees of Newport, who will no doubt bring along all manner of goodies to buy.
The yearly membership fee is £20 and visitors are always welcome for the sum of £4 per meeting. Coffee and biscuits are served after the speaker and is a time to chat and make new friends.
