THE sound of coffee cups could be heard all across Nailsea High Street on Friday morning at two charity events.

Woodspring Conservative Association and the Courtyard wine bar played hosts as part of the world’s biggest coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Business was brisk at 71 High Street with the Conservatives ladies serving nearly 50 cups of coffee and the occasional cup of tea to their guests.

There was also a homemade cake sale and tombola.

Administrator Denise Bull who helped to organise the event thanked everyone for coming.

She said: “We raised £115 for the charity.”

Across the road at the Courtyard customers looked for bargains at an all day bring-and-buy sale as well as being served with coffee and cake in the morning.

Among the bric-a-brac was a selection of donated ornaments, books, CDs and DVDs.

Macmillan Cancer Support helps people with cancer and their families.

The charity provides practical, medical and financial support for those in need.
