A chance to find out more about education and learning skills for adults is being offered at Weston College from next Monday (May 16) as part of national Adult Learner Week.

The week offers adults from across the UK and abroad unrivalled opportunities to see what is available and to try something new. This year, Weston College is hosting a packed programme of free events, talks and taster sessions with the aim of encouraging people to explore their potential.

There are sessions in literacy and numeracy, an opportunity to try life drawing, introduction to property maintenance and green technology courses and even a taster session in the art of door security, for those who aim to work in pubs and nightclubs.

Adult learning courses aren’t always about gaining qualifications and lives have been transformed by purely vocational courses.

Skills for Life Curriculum Co-ordinator, Maxine Park, said: “Anyone over 19 can enrol on our skills for life courses and we have people over 80 who want to improve their maths and English for free.

“This year we have had hundreds of adult learners on courses tailored to their needs, to improve skills, job prospects, go to university or help their children with maths and English homework.”

If you are interested in finding out more about our free taster sessions or our adult part-time courses please call 01934 411 577 or go to www.weston.ac.uk
