Chop, chop

The tree in my back garden was nearly as big as the house.
Looking out of my kitchen window all I could see was the ornamental tree planted by the housing developers more than 20 years ago.
It dominated the street scene.
The first quote I had to cut back the overgrowth was from a 17-year-old whose dad was working on a garden in the road.
He wandered up and gave me an on spec price of £50.
A second quote came from a company which said both trees were diseased and they would have to put poison down into the roots and cut back the dead wood.
This cant be good for the water course I thought.
They quoted between £200 and £300.
Andy did the job (with a mate) in just over half a morning and charged £250.
This involved cutting back the trees, pruning all the bushes and generally tidying and clearing up the front and back garden.
This spring the trees are flourishing with new growth and the garden looks great.
As an aside Andy mentioned how physically draining the work is and the life expectancy of a tree surgeon isnt good.
I agreed after seeing the lethal-looking chain saw in action.
