Yeo Valley Probus Club meetings this month deal with serious issues.
One very much of today; the other from a critical point in our history.
On Wednesday, February 6, 'Maggie' is going to give us an insight into the work of the Samaritans, a group of dedicated volunteers who provide a lifeline to people who find themselves in personal difficulties and need someone to listen.
Then on Wednesday, February 20, Graham Hackett is going to talk about RAF Operations against the Mau Mau in Kenya in the 1950s.
This was a very difficult time in what the then PM Harold Macmillan described as the 'wind of change blowing through Africa'.
Sponsored by Rotary, Probus clubs worldwide work provide regular gatherings to retired people who appreciate and value opportunities to meet others in similar circumstances and of a similar level of interest.
You are invited to join this local group at 10.30am, at the West Backwell Bowls Club on the above dates.
