World famous Indian cellist plays charity gig at Backwell

Internationally renowned cellist, Anup Biswas, is giving a charity concert at Backwell C of E Junior School on Tuesday, February 5, at 7.30pm.
To see this spellbinding cellist up close is a rare opportunity.
He will be playing classical music from the East and West and well as some more contemporary western music.
Anup played a sell out concert here in 2008 and has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral and Grays Inn where, in addition to a Vivaldi concerto he played an Indian raga at the personal request of HRH the Prince of Wales.
He has also appeared as a soloist playing the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to a capacity audience.
His concert in Backwell is to raise funds for the Mathieson Music School in Kolkata which educates poor children of West Bengal in key subjects as well as music.
Anup is the founder of the school and has dedicated his life to raising money to keep it running.
Tickets at £6 each can be bought from the junior school office.

Doors and bar open at 7pm.
During the day, Anup will be giving indian music workshops to the junior schoolchildren with the evening is more suited to parents and older children.
