Weston College's smart approach to e-safety and cyber bullying was shared online during a recent national webinar.

The College's S.P.A.C.E. campaign, which aims to educate students from all areas of the curriculum about issues such as protecting reputation online, controlling privacy settings and exposing cyber-bullying, was highlighted as an example of best practice among education providers.

Colleges from across the country, including representatives from Kent, Hertfordshire, St Helens and Northern Ireland, joined the webinar organised by Jisc, a national organisation that promotes digital technologies for education and research.

Jonathan Hofgartner, Weston College's Technology and Library Services Team Leader, described to the webinar attendees how the College embedded the S.P.A.C.E. campaign across all departments, and how it was supported within the curriculum to make sure everyone is aware of e-safety.

Presentations were also made by College staff members Andy Girling and Will Britton, regarding the innovative approaches that have been developed in promoting the e-safety message by and for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Ben McConkey, Weston College's Strategic Lead for Inclusive Practice, attended the webinar. He said: "It was extremely useful to be able to share what we've done in terms of e-safety at Weston College and there was a lot of interest in our work during the question-and-answer session.

"We were asked if the S.P.A.C.E. initiative was something that could be made commercially available to other colleges and it's a question we're currently looking into."
