It may well be time to get your sledges out as snow has been forecast for North Somerset this week.

The Met Office has issued an early warning of snow this Friday between 9am and midnight.

People in Nailsea could see white stuff falling from the skies as a battle ensues between the cold air currently gripping the country and a warm front and milder air edging in from the south west.

Forecasters say there could be accumulations of up to 15cm on high ground and 2-5cms at lower levels.

On the Met Office website it says: "As the weather breaks down there is the potential for a spell of snow to spread from over the south west.

"As winds strengthen, blizzard conditions are a possibility, especially over high ground.

"Accumulations of 2-5 cms are possible quite widely and in some locations, especially at higher ground, 15cms is possible."

Met Office forecasters are warning that the weather could lead to travel disruption but forecasts would be updated during the coming days.
