Sleigh Full of Toys To Be Delivered To Poorly Children Across the South West

KIND hearted families and organisations across North Somerset have donated hundreds of toys to Puxton Park's Toy Appeal.

The family run adventure park in Hewish, outside Weston-super-Mare, launched a toy appeal to collect gifts for poorly children across the South West.

Puxton says it has been overwhelmed by the sheer volume of toys placed in its Christmas sleigh including a huge donation from the 1st Weston village cubs.

The cubs undertook a sponsored silence and raised £670 which they decided to spend on toys and donate to the toy appeal.

Nigel Ball, of 1st Weston Village Cub Scouts, said: "As part of their Community Challenge Badge, the Cubs decided they wanted to buy toys for children in hospital over Christmas by undertaking a sponsored silence to raise money. 

"The Cubs all managed to stay quiet for the evening, much to the delight of the leaders.  We're all really proud of how much they managed to raise for a worthwhile cause at this time of year."

Alistair Mead, Puxton Park Managing Director, said: "Our toy appeal has been a huge success and we are certain these gifts will put smiles on hundreds of poorly children staying in local hospitals or at the children's hospice.

"Everyone has been very generous and we would like to say a huge thank you to all those people who have offered their support.

"In particular we would like to thank the cubs who decided to spend their sponsorship money on toys for our appeal."

Toys can be placed within the sleigh at Puxton's main reception from now until December 18 and the gifts will be delivered on December 19 and 20.
