New affordable homes in Nailsea

Alliance Homes officially opened its new affordable homes development at the beginning of March. Brooking Meadow on Whitesfield Road, Nailsea, includes a mixture of two and four bedroom houses, two bedroom flats and a wheelchair-accessible bungalow. All the homes are energy efficient and environmentally sustainable, featuring solar panels, insulation, water butts, and bird and bat boxes. There is also sustainable drainage, which means excess water soaks into the ground, rather than runs downs the drain, causing blockages and floods.
The development is part of the Homes and Communities Agency's (HCA) National Affordable Housing programme. It has been delivered through the local Key West Consortium in partnership with North Somerset Council and was built by Speller Metcalfe.
Jon Hobbs, Design and Development Manager for Alliance Homes said, "We are really pleased to have been able to deliver the Brooking Meadow development on time and to a high specification. There is a real shortage of affordable housing in this region and the HCA grant we received to build 95 new homes has enabled us to plan a programme of developments which helps to address this need."
