A chance to shine in the ever-developing world of computing is being offered by Weston College via its Foundation Degree in Applied Computing.

Since the launch of the College's Higher Education prospectus last week there has been a great deal of interest in the wide range of courses, with many students enquiring about computing.

The two-year full time (or three year part-time) course is highly practical and equips students with all the skills they need to pursue a career in Information Technology. There is also a strong vocational element to the course and students can expect placements in a variety of companies offering all aspects of IT.

Of course, getting on any undergraduate course for this academic year (2011-2012) means paying fees far lower than students who begin their studies in 2012-13, and these lower fees are guaranteed for the full term of the course, which will also include the optional third top-up year to the Bsc.

Janice Castle, Curriculum Manager, Computing and ICT, said: "The Applied Computing course is excellent, and will equip you for a career in a dynamic and varied industry. It is run in partnership with the University of Bath and after two years there is the opportunity to complete a further year for an Honours Degree.

"This course is extremely popular, and studying locally means you can save money as well as learn, using the up-to-date, dedicated HE facilities the College provides right on your doorstep. Past students on this course have gone on to work in many different IT fields and we expect this high rate of success to continue."

Applications for the Applied Computing course, and any other HE courses, should be made as soon as possible as competition is strong and places are going quickly. For more information visit www.weston.ac.uk or ring 01934 411 780/403.
