Theft in Backwell
A 30-year-old Backwell man who admitted stealing a mobile phone and charger, tobacco, lager and cider from another home in the village is to be electronically tagged.
Paul Wingrove, of Waverley Road, took the items from a house in Moorfield Road, last June.
North Somerset magistrates sentenced Wingrove to a 12-week community order which included a 10pm-8am curfew and to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
He asked for one other offence to be taken into consideration.
Wingrove was also fined £50 for breaking bail conditions and ordered to pay £15 victim compensation.
Petrol stolen at Wraxall
A woman who stole vehicle number plates admitted not paying of petrol from two Somerset service stations and a Bristol supermarket.
Dawn Tolliver, aged 38, of Timberscombe Walk, Whitchurch, took the front and rear licence plates worth £25 from a Nissan Micra in a neighbouring road.
She was sentenced to a 10-week community order which includes a house curfew from 8pm-7am and being electronically tagged.
She was ordered to pay compensation of £91.10 to Asda, at Longwell Green; £65.10 to Budgens Petrol Station, Langford and £95.18 to Wraxall Service Station near Nailsea.
Tolliver was also ordered to pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service when she appeared at North Somerset Magistrates' Court this week.
