A local health club is challenging members and fitness fans to a challenge like no other this December.

The award-winning club at DoubleTree by Hilton, Cadbury House has created the Cadbury Colossus Challenge to test participants' strength, stamina and fitness over a series of demanding tasks.

Taking place at the health club on Sunday 1 December the challenge will see people running, climbing, crawling and splashing their way around the course.

Those who think they are up to the challenge will navigate their way over flaming hay bales, trawl through mud runs, escape sand traps and wade through water for this work-out with a difference.

Fitness manager at theclub Tom Horton said: "This is a full-body endurance work-out and will test you mentally as well as physically. It's perfect for people who regularly train in the gym on their own or go to classes and want to try something a bit different, while getting a really good work-out.

"The event is open to members and non-members and we're encouraging groups of friends to sign up to get a bit of competitive spirit going!

"Having said that, it's not a race, it's more of a personal challenge and everyone who takes part will receive a reward to remind them of their achievement."

The challenge is expected to take participants between 1-2 hours to complete and is open to people of all abilities from age 16.

theClub, located in Congresbury, hit the headlines recently when it was the first in the world to install brand new equipment which feeds electricity back into the building as people use it for their work-outs.

With state-of-the-art equipment, a full size swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi theClub is a favourite with locals and fitness fans.

Tom continued: "This challenge has been specially designed by our personal trainer Dave Jackson to provide a tough full-body work-out, while also being really fun. We hope those who take part will enjoy the experience and not even realise they're exercising.

"For those who haven't been to the club before, it will be a great opportunity to check out the facilities."

The Cadbury Colossus Challenge is £20 per person for members and non-members. Participants are asked to sign in at 9am on Sunday 1 December with the challenge to start at 10am.
