Christmas cheer with Nailsea town centre festive markets

Venison stew, Christmas canapes and mulled wine was served at Nailsea farmers and craft market on Saturday.

The treats were prepared by head chef Mike Vicary and his assistant for the morning general manager Fay Cowles, of The Battleaxes.

Local People is hosting pre-Christmas drinks at The Battleaxes with a complimentary glass of feastive cheer for its guests on Friday, November 23.

Stalls at Crown Glass Shopping Centre offered locally produced treats for Christmas shoppers including a selection of meats, specialty sausages, game, dairy, fish, organic vegetables, cakes, chocolates, bread, plants, apple juice, award-winning pies, preserves, cup cakes with new local producers selling hot soup, quiches, Greek and hot Thai food dishes. 

At Somerset Square an array of arts and crafts were on sale including  jewellery, decorative glass, fabric handbags, children's clothes, woven wool products, soaps, wood products, paper crafts, locally photographed framed images, organic wheatbags, fabric memo boards and much more. 

The Battleaxes at Wraxall is the new sponsors for the 2013 market bookmarks.

Shoppers with one of these bookmarks can get a 10 per cent discount when enjoying a scrumptious Sunday lunch at the refurbished pub and restaurant.

And children aged 10 and under a free meal when eating with adults.

Pre booking and presentation of the bookmark is essential. 

The next big town centre Saturday market diary date is the Christmas farmers and craft market on Saturday, December 15.

This bumper market will be brimming with produce, craft stalls and extra festive community stalls throughout the whole shopping centre. 

At Somerset Square Father Christmas will be on his sleigh with his merry helpers from Nailsea Lions and the sweet tones of carol singing will be heard at Crown Glass Place.

And as an addition there will be lots of community stalls providing festive gifts, stall games, tombolas and raffles including Nailsea Churches with the Ugandan water project and Fair Trade; Nailsea Air Cadets; Nailsea & Backwell RFC U17s; Nailsea Ladies Hockey Club; Nailsea Disability Initiative; Friends of Trendlewood Park; Nailsea fundraising team for Marie Curie and Nailsea fundraisers for the Children's Wallace & Gromet Appeal.
