Great Western Air Ambulance
Charity (GWAAC) are delighted to announce that Cadbury Garden and Leisure
Centre have chosen to support them as their charity of the year.
The charity, providers of an air
ambulance service for the 2.1m people of Bristol, Bath, North Somerset and the
surrounding counties, will be supported by Cadbury Garden and Leisure Centre
during fundraising events throughout the year. Created five years ago, it is
the youngest air ambulance charity in England and needs to raise £1.5m a year
to keep the helicopter flying as it receives no funding from the Government or
the National Lottery. Before GWAAC, the North Somerset area didn't have a
dedicated air ambulance service and GWAAC has attended 133 incidents in the
North Somerset area in the first six months of 2013.
In support of National Air
Ambulance Week from Monday 23rd to Sunday 29th September
2013 , the garden centre, based in Congresbury, is holding a variety of
fundraising events throughout September.
Sunday 15th September 2013 there will be a Family Fun Afternoon from 12:00pm to
3.00pm, where one of the charity's Rapid Response Vehicles (RRV) and a Critical
Care Paramedic is hoping be in attendance.
on Sunday 29th September 2013 it is hoped that the charity's helicopter will
land at the garden centre between 12:00pm and 3:00pm, and members of the public
will have the chance to meet the crew and find out more about the work that
Gaitan, Head of Fundraising for GWAAC, said: "We are delighted that Cadbury
Garden and Leisure Centre have decided to support our cause by making us their
charity of the year – I hope that the two events in September are a real
success and we are looking forward to meeting members of the community and
spreading the word about the work that we do."
